Dear Editor,

The London bombings give an opportunity to all Maldivians who think of themselves as Muslims to find out if they are really Muslims or not. To do this, they must recall their immediate reaction to the breaking news on TV. If their spontaneous reaction had been one of unbridled joy that their Jihadi brethren had scored an important victory against infidels, or happiness that Saddam Hussein had been finally avenged and Tony Blair taught a lesson, then they are truly good Muslims. They will have the pleasure of reclining in comfortable couches in Paradise with 72 virgins and fountains of white wine. But suppose they felt revulsion at the death of innocent men, women and children, who were going about their normal business, then they are not Muslims at all. They are munaafigs.

Islamic Holy War and the Fate of
Non-Muslims
. Edited by Andrew G Bostom and forwarded by Ibn Warraq (click)

If you just learnt you are also one of these munaafigs, there is no need to be shocked. During the time of the Prophet (PBUH) there were people like you who felt unhappy about his numerous raids on neighboring tribes, in which booty was taken and women and children enslaved. If you read the accounts of these raids (ghazya) in Salahuddin’s Seerath, you will find out that the Prophet called those who refused to join the raids munaafiqs. Today his followers will call all those who oppose the London bombings munaafigs. There is bad news for munaafigs like you. You will not have a single virgin, not even an ‘experienced’ woman. Instead you will burn eternally in hell.

In Islam there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. There are good Muslims and munaafigs. Now that you have learnt you are a munaafig, you can do either of two things. You can stop calling yourself a Muslim. Or, you will have to re-educate yourself in Islamic values. The first lesson you will learn is, “Good Muslims kill in the name of Allah.”
